All details of Rahul Gandhi’s gotra have been “revealed” by a priest in Rajasthan. Congress president Rahul Gandhi visited a temple while campaigning on Monday for the December 7 state election. He is a “Dattatreya” and a Kashmiri Brahmin, as he said a priest in a temple by the famous lake Pushkar.

That answers a question raised by Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Sambit Patra, who had targeted last month at Rahul Gandhi over his party’s pronouncement to justify his temple visits in poll-bound states  that he is a “janeu-dhari Brahmin”.

“Rahul Gandhi wears a janeu (sacred thread). We want to ask him that what kind of  jenau dhari are you? What is your gotra? , question asked by Sambit Patra BJP Spokeperson, speaking in Madhya Pradesh, Where elections are being held in state .

‘He is a Kashmiri Brahmin and his gotra is Dattatreya’ . Motilal Nehru, Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Sanjay Gandhi, Maneka Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi and have come and offered prayers at the ghat .

He also claimed to have old records of the Nehru Gandhi family tree. Further also told that his ancestors had performed special pujas with Jawaharlal Nehru (India’s first prime minister and Rahul Gandhi’s great-grandfather) and his father Motilal Nehru at the Pushkar Sarovar.

“Rahul Gandhi came and offered prayers at the ghat in state . He also said that his gotra is Dattatreya. Dattatreya are Kauls and Kauls are Kashmiri Brahmin; as he said’.

The Congress chief ‘Rahul Gandhi’ yesterday also visited the Ajmer shrine before addressing a string of election rallies.

The religious stops have been criticised by the Bharatiya Janata Party as soft-Hindutva. Last year, Congress president Rahul Gandhi responded to criticism of his visit to the Somnath temple.

Where Rhaul Gandhi say’s: “Main Shiv ka bhakt hoon, sachaai mein believe karta hoon. BJP jo bhi bole main apni sachaai mein believe karta hu (I am a devotee of Shiv either BJP may say anything, but I will remain honest ever.)

The results of the state elections will be announced on December 11 2018.
