Karnataka Rajyotsava: Rahul Gandhi Greets Seven States and One UT on Formation Day

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday sent formation day greetings to Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Rajasthan and Haryana, seven states that were all granted statehood on November 1, though in different years.

Two messages

For the Hindi-speaking states, Gandhi wrote on Facebook in Devanagari, wishing them prosperity and growth. He said India draws its strength from the cooperation and progress of each state, and called on everyone to commit to making their states rich and vibrant.

He addressed Karnataka, Kerala and the Union Territory of Puducherry in English. In that message he said the idea of India celebrates “our collective strength in diversity”, and paid tribute to the unsung heroes whose struggles led to the creation of the states and strengthened the bonds between them.

Sonia Gandhi cancels Raipur visit

Sonia Gandhi, the Congress’ interim president, was scheduled to inaugurate Chhattisgarh’s State Festival in Raipur on Friday, but cancelled because she was unwell.
