AAP names seventh list of candidates for 2017 Goa assembly election
The Aam Aadmi Party has released its seventh list of candidates for the 2017 Goa assembly election, naming two more contenders for the coming polls.
Who was named
Businessman Sainath Patekar will contest from Bicholim, while lawyer and activist Vishnu Naik has been chosen for the Siolim constituency. Both names were cleared by AAP’s political affairs committee, headed by Arvind Kejriwal, the party’s national convenor and the chief minister of Delhi.
Where the party stands
With these additions, AAP has so far announced 32 candidates in Goa. The party has said it plans to field candidates in all 40 assembly constituencies in the state.
What happened next
In the 2017 Goa assembly election, the Congress won 17 seats, the BJP 13 and the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party 3. Manohar Parrikar became chief minister after the election.
