National Security Adviser Ajit Doval has been re-designated to the top post in the Prime Minister’s Office with an overhaul. He will hold the position of a Cabinet Minister.

‘The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has affirmed the arrangement of Shri Ajit Doval, IPS (Retired) as National Security Adviser with impact from 31.05.2019. His arrangement will be co-end with the term of the Prime Minister or until further requests, whichever is prior,’ an administration request issued on Monday said.

‘Amid the term of his office, he will be alloted the position of Cabinet Minister in the Table of Precedence,’ the concise request said.

Doval was Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first decision to exhort him on security when he originally expected office in May 2014.
