Yogi Adityanath accuses Congress of siding with anti-nationals at Surguja rally

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accused the Congress of standing with anti-national forces and alleged that its Lok Sabha manifesto encouraged terrorism and Naxalism. He was speaking at an election rally in Ambikapur, in the Surguja Lok Sabha constituency of Chhattisgarh.
Charges against the Congress
“Congress ka hath deshdrohiyo ke sath,” Adityanath said, accusing the party of being hand in glove with anti-nationals. He alleged that the Congress government in Chhattisgarh was not serious about tackling Naxalism, citing the recent killing of Bheema Mandavi, a BJP MLA, in an IED blast in Dantewada. Mandavi and four police personnel were killed in the Naxal attack on April 9. Adityanath claimed the attack could have been prevented had the BJP been in power in the state.
He also said the Congress had questioned the existence of Lord Ram and the Ram Setu, and that Lord Ram was linked with both Ayodhya and Chhattisgarh. He told the crowd it was time to teach a lesson to those who raised such questions.
Welfare schemes and governance
Adityanath alleged that the Congress government was trying to end schemes such as Ayushman Bharat Yojana that had been running under the previous Raman Singh government, and claimed mining and land mafias had grown powerful in the state since the Congress came to power. Praising the Centre’s schemes, he said Modi was working towards the goal of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ and invited anyone wanting to see peace to visit Uttar Pradesh. He urged people to vote to make Modi prime minister again.
The Surguja contest
The BJP has fielded former MLA Renuka Singh from Surguja, a seat reserved for Scheduled Tribes, while the Congress has nominated senior tribal leader and sitting MLA Khelsai Singh. The constituency votes on April 23, in the third phase of polling in the state.
