Yogi Adityanath Expands UP Council of Ministers as 23 Take Oath
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expanded his council of ministers on August 21, when 23 ministers were sworn in at the Raj Bhavan. It was the first reshuffle of his ministry since he took office in 2017.
Who was sworn in
Four leaders who had been ministers of state with independent charge were elevated to cabinet rank, while two newcomers entered directly at cabinet rank: Ram Naresh Agnihotri and Kamla Rani Varun.
Six leaders were inducted as ministers of state with independent charge, and 11 new ministers of state were added to the BJP government, which was then about two and a half years old.
The oaths were administered by Governor Anandiben Patel, with the Chief Minister present at the ceremony.
What happened next
Yogi Adityanath, who became Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in March 2017, began a second term in office in March 2022.
