Common beliefs about voting rules in India, checked against the law and the Election Commission of India. We check how the process works, and never whether a politician, party or candidate told the truth.
Each page takes one claim that voters commonly repeat, and reads it against at least two primary sources: the Representation of the People Acts, the rules made under them, Election Commission of India documents, Press Information Bureau releases or a Supreme Court order. We rate each claim True, Misleading or False, and list any exceptions under the verdict.
These checks are written by the India Vote Kar editorial team. India Vote Kar also sells election software and campaign services to candidates and parties. No client has any say in these pages. If we get something wrong, our corrections policy explains how to tell us and how we fix it.
