AAP names first candidates for Goa Assembly elections 2017
The Aam Aadmi Party has announced its first set of candidates for the 2017 Goa Assembly election, naming four contenders.
The candidates
- Panaji: Valmiki Naik
- Mayem: Ajeetsingh Rane
- Shiroda: Molu Velip
- Velim: Cruz Silva
Party sources said the names were finalised by AAP’s Political Affairs Committee after approval from Arvind Kejriwal, the party’s national convener and Chief Minister of Delhi.
The rest of the list
AAP national secretary Pankaj Gupta told reporters that the party would name candidates for every other constituency by the end of October. AAP intends to contest all 40 seats in the state Assembly.
What happened next
In the 2017 Goa Assembly election the Congress won 17 seats, the BJP 13 and the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party 3. Manohar Parrikar was Chief Minister after the election.
