PM Modi launches projects worth over Rs 1,550 crore in Odisha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched a series of projects in Odisha worth more than Rs 1,550 crore, covering railways, logistics, heritage sites, passport services and education.

Railway projects

• Electrification of the Jharsuguda-Vizianagaram and Sambalpur-Angul lines, covering 813 km and costing Rs 1,085 crore, was dedicated to the nation.
• Doubled track on two sections, Barpali-Dungaripali (14.2 km) and Balangir-Deogaon (17.354 km),, built for Rs 189.3 crore, was inaugurated. Both sections belong to the 181.54 km project to double the Sambalpur-Titlagarh line.
• The 15 km Balangir-Bichhupali line, laid for Rs 115 crore, was opened. It belongs to the new 289-km Balangir-Khurda Road project, linking the Howrah-Chennai main line at Khurda Road with the Titlagarh-Sambalpur line at Balangir.
• A Rs 27.4 crore bridge linking Theruvali and Singapur Road stations was opened. It restores the link over the Nagavali river that was washed away in floods in July 2017.

Other projects

The Prime Minister dedicated to the nation a Multi-Modal Logistics Park at Jharsuguda, built for Rs 100 crore. He inaugurated restoration and renovation work at the Nilamadhav and Siddheswar temples at Gandhaharadi and the Paschim Somnath group of temples, both in Boudh, and at the Ranipur Jharial group of monuments in Balangir.

He also opened six Passport Seva Kendras, in Balangir, Bargarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Phulbani and Puri, and laid the foundation for a permanent campus of the Kendriya Vidyalaya at Sonepur, to be built for Rs 15.81 crore.
