Amit Shah in Rajasthan: BJP will remove all ‘intruders’ if re-elected in 2019

BJP president Amit Shah said on Monday that every “intruder” would be identified and removed from the country if the BJP returned to power in 2019. Addressing a public rally in Rajasthan, he urged voters to re-elect the Vasundhara Raje government in the state and the Modi government at the Centre.

Intruders and the NRC

Shah said a re-elected BJP government would find and expel intruders “from Kashmir to Kanyakumari”. He accused Rahul Gandhi and the Congress of being anxious about the 40 lakh people the BJP government had identified in Assam. About 40 lakh people had been excluded from the final draft NRC (National Register of Citizens) in Assam, and the process of filing claims and objections began in September.

Asking whether these people were relatives of the Congress, Shah alleged that the party saw them as a vote bank and did not care about national security.

Surgical strikes and absconding businessmen

Shah criticised Gandhi for calling the surgical strike a political asset of the BJP, and accused him of ignoring the sacrifices of soldiers and the suffering of their families.

He also mocked the Congress for raising questions about Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi leaving the country, saying they fled because of stricter rules brought in by the Modi government. He alleged that the Congress, during its ten years in power, had allowed large bank loans that later turned into NPAs, and claimed such people did not flee then because the Congress shared in the gains.

Listing achievements, Shah said the Modi government had provided gas connections to about 6 crore mothers, along with 8 crore toilets, 2.5 crore electricity connections and two crore houses.

The BJP won 303 Lok Sabha seats in 2019 and Narendra Modi was sworn in for a second term on 30 May 2019.
