ABP-C-Voter survey projects 276 seats for NDA in 2019 Lok Sabha election

An opinion poll by ABP News and C-Voter has projected that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on course for a second term after the 2019 Lok Sabha election. It estimated 276 seats for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, just above the majority mark of 272, and 112 seats for the Congress.

State-by-state projections

Uttar Pradesh: If the Congress allies with the Samajwadi Party and the BSP, the grand alliance could win at least 56 of the 80 seats.
Maharashtra: If the Congress and NCP ally while the BJP and Shiv Sena split, the UPA could win 30 of 48 seats. If both alliances hold, the NDA could get 36. If every party contests alone, the NDA would still win the most, 22.
Delhi: The BJP could win all seven seats.
Haryana: The NDA could win six seats and the UPA three.
Punjab: In the Congress-ruled state, the UPA could take 12 seats and the NDA one.
Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh: The NDA is projected to win in the Lok Sabha poll despite anti-incumbency.

The south

In the southern states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, regional parties are expected to dominate. Of their combined 129 seats, the survey gave 21 to the NDA, 32 to the Congress-led UPA and 76 to other parties.

Earlier polling

An opinion poll in August had suggested the BJP could be defeated in all three coming Assembly polls, in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

What happened next

In the actual 2019 Lok Sabha election, counted on 23 May 2019, the BJP alone won 303 of 543 seats and the Congress 52. Narendra Modi was sworn in for a second term on 30 May 2019.
