CWC Passes 3 Resolutions: Rahul’s Role, Sonia as Interim Chief, and J&K

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) adopted three resolutions in New Delhi on Saturday: one praising Rahul Gandhi’s tenure as party president, one making Sonia Gandhi interim president until the AICC elects a regular chief, and one on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sonia Gandhi as interim chief
The committee unanimously decided to ask Sonia Gandhi to take charge as interim president until a regular president is elected by the AICC. According to the resolution, Rahul Gandhi was asked to continue but declined to withdraw his resignation.
Tribute to Rahul Gandhi
In its first resolution, the CWC recorded its deep appreciation and thanks for what it called Rahul Gandhi’s exceptional leadership. It said he had “led the party with unbounded drive, fierce determination and dedication”.
The resolution also praised him for taking personal responsibility for the party’s disappointing showing in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, saying this set new standards of accountability in public life.
Jammu and Kashmir
A third resolution on Jammu and Kashmir was also adopted. The resolutions were announced by Congress general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal and chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala.
