Grenade Attack- jammu

At least 18 people were injured in a grenade explosion at the main bus stand in Jammu in the evening. The bus stand lies in the heart of the city.

What is known

Officials said the injured were bus drivers and conductors. According to the police, the grenade had been placed under a bus; it was not clear whether anyone was inside the vehicle at the time. The area was cordoned off and the injured were taken to hospital.

A police officer told reporters that every lead was being followed, evidence was being collected and those responsible would be tracked down. Pictures from the scene showed security personnel guarding the area as a large crowd gathered near the site of the blast.

An eyewitness said he first thought a tyre had burst, but it turned out to be a big explosion. Local residents took the injured to hospital in an ambulance, he said.
