Priyanka Gandhi to address first public rally in Gujarat on February 28

Priyanka Gandhi, appointed Congress general secretary in charge of eastern Uttar Pradesh just over a month ago, will address her first public rally on February 28 in Gujarat, a BJP stronghold. She will share the stage with her brother, Congress president Rahul Gandhi, and her mother Sonia Gandhi.
The Sankalp rally
The rally, named the Sankalp Rally, will be held at Adalaj ahead of the Lok Sabha election. Congress leaders see it as a significant morale booster for the party in a state where it has been out of power for nearly three decades. Gujarat is regarded as a BJP bastion and is also the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Preparations were in full swing, and posters for the event had been put up across the state.
CWC meeting in Ahmedabad
Before the rally, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) will meet in Ahmedabad; the meeting a Congress leader said was likely to pass resolutions against the Central government on various issues. It will be the first CWC meeting Priyanka Gandhi attends, and Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi will also be present.
What happened next
In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, counted on 23 May, the BJP won 303 of 543 seats and the Congress 52.
