Ram Pratap Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party won Etmadpur in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election with 137,381 votes (48.34%), defeating Dr. Dharampal Singh of the Bahujan Samaj Party, who polled 90,126 votes (31.71%). The winning margin was 47,255 votes.
