Naseer Ahmad Khan of the Samajwadi Party won Chamraua in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election with 87,400 votes (44.99%), defeating Ali Yusuf Ali of the Bahujan Samaj Party, who polled 53,024 votes (27.29%). The winning margin was 34,376 votes.
