Bhagwati Prasad Sagar of the Bharatiya Janata Party won Bilhaur in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election with 102,326 votes (42.51%), defeating Kamlesh Chandra Diwakar of the Bahujan Samaj Party, who polled 71,160 votes (29.57%). The winning margin was 31,166 votes.
