Shri Dalveer Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party won Barauli in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election with 125,545 votes (53.4%), defeating Thakur Jaivir Singh of the Bahujan Samaj Party, who polled 86,782 votes (36.91%). The winning margin was 38,763 votes.
