Dharmraj Singh Yadav Urf Suresh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party won Barabanki in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election with 99,453 votes (40.54%), defeating Surendra Singh of the Bahujan Samaj Party, who polled 69,748 votes (28.43%). The winning margin was 29,705 votes.
