Anupama Jaiswal of the Bharatiya Janata Party won Bahraich in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election with 87,479 votes (41.0%), defeating Rubab Sayda of the Samajwadi Party, who polled 80,777 votes (37.86%). The winning margin was 6,702 votes.
