Garima Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party won Amethi in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election with 64,226 votes (34.21%), defeating Gayatri Prasad Prajapati of the Samajwadi Party, who polled 59,161 votes (31.52%). The winning margin was 5,065 votes.
