How to Apply for a Voter ID Card Online
Any Indian citizen who is 18 years or older on the qualifying date can apply for a Voter ID card (EPIC) and get their name added to the electoral roll. With state elections due in 2027, now is the best time to register. Here is the step-by-step online process.
New voter registration (Form 6)
- Visit the official Voters’ Service Portal at voters.eci.gov.in or use the Voter Helpline mobile app.
- Sign up with your mobile number and verify the OTP.
- Select New registration for general electors (Form 6).
- Fill in your name, date of birth, address and (optionally) Aadhaar number.
- Upload a passport-size photo, age proof and address proof.
- Review and submit. You will get a reference ID to track the application.
What happens next
A Booth Level Officer (BLO) verifies your details and address. Once approved, your name is added to the electoral roll and your EPIC is generated. You can then download the e-EPIC.
