Prakash Mehta (born April 22, 1959) is an Indian politician from Maharashtra and a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was the President for Mumbai BJP Unit.

Prakash Mehta was Cabinet Minister for Housing in the Government of Maharashtra from December 2014 to June 2019, having briefly held Industries and Mining and Parliamentary Affairs in late 2014. He served six consecutive terms in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, representing Ghatkopar and later Ghatkopar East, from 1990 to 2019.

Early Life Career

Prakash Mehta belongs to Gujarati middle-class family and is originally from Una town in Saurashtra region of Gujarat. He married with Kishori Mehta and having two sons Abhishek Mehta, Harsh Mehta Prakash Mehta was drawn to politics in his early teens and was a member of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh . During 1975-77, as a youth, he actively participated and volunteered during the National Emergency and Corruption Movement launched by Loknayak Jayprakash Narayan.
